Drei Dinge. Das ist die ganze Anleitung.

Fn halten

Die Taste unten links auf der Tastatur. Die Ente wacht auf und hört zu – sie plappert mit, solange du sprichst.

Einfach sprechen

Deutsch, Englisch oder beides in einem Satz. „Äh“ und „ähm“ darfst du sagen, die räumt sie weg.

Loslassen

Der fertige Text landet an der Cursor-Stelle – mit Satzzeichen, Groß- und Kleinschreibung und Absätzen.

Was die Ente für dich macht

Tippt in jedes Feld

Mail, Slack, Notion, Terminal – und jedes Textfeld im Browser, auch das Suchfeld. Kein Kopieren und Einfügen.

Kennt deine Wörter

Namen, Marken, Fachbegriffe. Einmal eintragen, danach immer richtig geschrieben. Und sag „Signatur einfügen“ – sie steht da.

Schaut auf den Bildschirm

Antwortest du einer Sara, bleibt sie „Sara“ und wird nicht zu „Sarah“. Mitten im Satz eingefügt, schreibt sie klein weiter.

Hört zu, wenn du dich korrigierst

„…um 12 Uhr, ähm, sorry, ich mein um eins“ wird zu „…um 13 Uhr.“ Du redest, wie du redest – sie schreibt, was du meinst.

Sitzt in Meetings dabei

Hört dich und die anderen, trennt die Sprecher und legt dir danach eine Zusammenfassung mit To-Dos ab.

Niemand hört mit

Kein Konto, kein Glod-Server, keine Statistik. Ohne Netz erkennt dein Mac selbst – dann verlässt gar nichts den Rechner.

Der Knopf öffnet iCloud – dort oben rechts auf das Wolken-Symbol zum Laden klicken. Danach: Zip öffnen, Glod in „Programme“ ziehen, starten. Den Rest erledigt der Assistent in zwei Minuten.

Beim ersten Öffnen meckert macOS – das ist normal

Glod ist noch in der Testphase und deshalb nicht bei Apple registriert. macOS blockt jede App ohne diesen Stempel beim ersten Start – es hat nichts gefunden, es kennt sie nur nicht. Einmal freigeben, danach nie wieder:

Zip öffnen, Glod in den Ordner „Programme“ ziehen.
Glod doppelklicken. macOS sagt „Glod kann nicht geöffnet werden“ → auf Fertig klicken.
Systemeinstellungen → Datenschutz & Sicherheit öffnen, ganz nach unten scrollen: „Glod wurde blockiert“ → Trotzdem öffnen, mit Touch ID oder Passwort bestätigen.
Glod nochmal öffnen – jetzt startet der Assistent.
Er fragt nach Mikrofon (zum Zuhören) und Bedienungshilfen (zum Tippen). Beides erlauben, sonst kann die Ente nichts schreiben.

Später kommt eine kostenpflichtige Vollversion mit automatischen Updates – und mit ihr der Apple-Stempel, dann entfällt der Umweg. Wer jetzt testet, erfährt es zuerst.

Keine Grenzen in der Testphase

Diktiere, so viel du willst. Wenn etwas klemmt, sag es der Ente: draufklicken und „Feedback senden“ wählen.

Was passiert mit meiner Stimme?

Nichts kommt bei uns an. Kein Glod-Konto, kein Glod-Server, keine Statistik – und ehrlich gesagt interessiert es uns auch nicht. Die Aufnahme geht direkt an Groq, mit deinem eigenen Schlüssel, und wird dort nicht gespeichert. Ohne Netz, oder wann immer du willst, läuft alles auf deinem Mac.

Wer sammelt meine Daten?

Niemand. Die Ente hört zu, tippt und vergisst es wieder. Deine letzten Diktate liegen in einer Datei auf deinem Mac, die du jederzeit löschen kannst.

Brauche ich ein Konto?

Nein. Laden, öffnen, loslegen. Nichts anmelden, nichts kündigen.

Was ist Groq – und brauche ich das?

Nein, es ist freiwillig. Glod läuft auch komplett auf deinem Mac, dann geht gar nichts ins Netz. Groq ist eine Firma, die Sprachmodelle auf eigener Hardware sehr schnell rechnet: Dein Diktat ist in einem Bruchteil einer Sekunde erkannt und sauber formatiert – Satzzeichen, Absätze, „ähm“ weg. Auf dem Mac selbst dauert dasselbe ein paar Sekunden länger und die KI-Formatierung entfällt. Du holst dir bei Groq einen kostenlosen Schlüssel, Glod legt ihn in deinen Schlüsselbund und schickt die Aufnahme direkt dorthin – ohne Umweg über uns. Groq speichert nichts und trainiert nicht damit. Deshalb kostet Glod auch nichts im Monat: Es gibt keinen Server, den wir bezahlen müssten. Der Assistent führt dich in zwei Minuten durch.

macOS sagt, die App sei blockiert

Einmalig: Systemeinstellungen → Datenschutz & Sicherheit → nach unten scrollen → „Trotzdem öffnen“.

Gibt es eine Windows-Version?

Nein. Glod ist für macOS gebaut. Eine iPhone-Version ist in Arbeit.

Hold Fn

The key in the bottom-left corner of your keyboard. The duck wakes up and listens – it quacks along while you speak.

Talk normally

German, English, or both in one sentence. Say „um“ as much as you like, it gets cleaned up.

Let go

Your text is pasted at the cursor – punctuation, capitals and paragraphs included.

What the duck does for you

Types in any field

Mail, Slack, Notion, your terminal – and every text field in the browser, search boxes included. No copy and paste.

Knows your words

Names, brands, jargon. Add them once, they are spelled right forever. And say „insert signature“ – there it is.

Reads the room

Replying to a Sara stays „Sara“. Start mid-sentence and it continues in lowercase.

Catches your corrections

„…at twelve, um, sorry, I mean at one“ becomes „…at 1 pm.“ Talk the way you talk – it writes what you meant.

Sits in your meetings

Hears you and everyone else, splits the speakers and files a summary with to-dos afterwards.

Nobody is listening

No account, no Glod server, no analytics. Offline, a model on your Mac takes over – then nothing leaves the machine at all.

macOS will complain on first launch – that is expected

Glod is still in testing and therefore not registered with Apple. macOS blocks every app without that stamp the first time – it did not find anything, it just doesn’t know the app. Approve it once, never again:

Unzip and drag Glod into Applications.
Double-click Glod. macOS says „Glod can’t be opened“ → click Done.
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom: „Glod was blocked“ → Open Anyway, confirm with Touch ID or your password.
Open Glod again – the setup assistant starts.
It asks for Microphone (to hear you) and Accessibility (to type for you). Allow both, otherwise the duck can’t write.

Later there will be a paid full version with automatic updates – and with it the Apple stamp, so the detour disappears. Everyone testing now hears about it first.

Dictate as much as you want. If something breaks or feels off, tell the duck: click it and choose "Send feedback".

What do I need?

A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 13 or later.

What happens to my voice?

Nothing reaches us. There is no Glod account, no Glod server, no analytics — and honestly, we just don’t care. Audio goes straight to Groq on your own key and is not stored there. Offline, or whenever you prefer, the whole thing runs on your Mac.

So who is collecting my data?

Nobody. The duck hears you, types it out and forgets it. Your dictation history stays in a file on your Mac that you can delete any time.

Do I need an account?

No. Buy once, paste the key, done. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to cancel.

What is Groq – and do I need it?

No, it’s optional. Glod also runs entirely on your Mac, and then nothing goes online at all. Groq is a company that runs speech models on its own hardware, very fast: your dictation is transcribed and cleaned up in a fraction of a second – punctuation, paragraphs, „um“ removed. On the Mac itself the same takes a few seconds longer and the AI formatting is skipped. You get a free key from Groq, Glod stores it in your keychain and sends the audio straight there – never through us. Groq stores nothing and trains on nothing. That is also why Glod has no monthly fee: there is no server for us to pay for. The setup assistant walks you through it in two minutes.

macOS says the app is blocked

One time only: System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down → „Open Anyway“.

Is there a Windows version?

No. Glod is built for macOS.
